GlosDay top banner Gloucestershire Day – final countdown!
Gloucestershire Day 2020
Gloucestershire Day is four days away, but there’s still time to get involved!

Our inbox is full of nominations from across the county about incredible people who really have been heroes in their community.

We’ve read stories about people who have been helping collect medication for vulnerable and shielding neighbours, local business owners coordinating shopping for older people in their village and so much more.

However, we know there are even more out there but we can’t celebrate these heroes unless they get nominated.

The countdown is also on to find the #GlosDay anthem, but because we know sometimes a song doesn’t get written in a day, we’re extending the deadline for the #GlosSong to Sunday 20 September.

More details about submitting a nomination or a song are further down this newsletter.

What’s happening on the day?
On Monday 21 September, our social media feeds will be full of photos and stories of all the hero nominees so that everyone can see how marvellous these people are.

We’ll also be keeping a close eye on the #GlosDay hashtag and sharing the things that make our county great that others have posted. You can get involved in this too by posting a photo of your favourite view when you take a walk, or a hidden gem that you think is underappreciated. Perhaps you have a favourite businesses that is unique to Gloucestershire that others should know about.

The graphics for Gloucestershire Day can now be downloaded from our Flickr page for you to use, and don’t forget to search Facebook’s profile photo frames to show your pride for the county. If you’re an Instagram user, there are story filters ready and waiting for you too!

To nominate a Covid-19 Community Hero
Send us a photo of the person (with their permission) and say how they have helped you. Please include your name and the area where you live.

To do this, you can either send us a direct message on social media using the hashtags #thisis and #gloscommunity or email the photo and a line of text to communications@gloucestershire.gov.uk and we’ll do the rest. Please include ‘Glosday nomination’ in the subject line.

To submit a song
To submit a song for consideration:

Post the song on social media using the hashtags #GlosDay #GlosSong

Email a video or mp3 to communications@gloucestershire.gov.uk with the email subject line ‘GlosSong submission’.

The track can be filmed on a smartphone with a singer and guitar, with a band, or can be produced on a computer, we want to hear it all. The song must be original, not subject to any copyright and the artist needs to be happy for us to use it as Gloucestershire’s anthem.
